Moonlight Nepal Trekking and Adventure’s travel and service learning project is a wonderful way to provide your students with the opportunity to combine experiential learning and community service projects. Our programs encourage students to develop an understanding of socio-cultural contexts, an appreciation of the natural world, and socio-emotional learning that cultivates personal responsibility through inquiry, problem solving and observation.
Students will grow as individuals as they develop:
- Self-confidence, independence and self-esteem
- Social skills, communication, motivation, knowledge and understanding
- Focus and self-control, perspective-taking, making connections
- Taking on Challenges, Self-Directed
- Meeting plans & ideas for safety
- Ability to face mental and physical challenges
- Ability to adapt to new environments outside of their ‘comfort zone’
- Appreciation and care for the natural environment
- Appreciation and care for the underprivileged people and children
- Confidence to lead a group and make decisions
- Adaptability and resilience as they adjust to the physical challenge of trekking
- Collaboration skills as they work together as a cohesive team to achieve a common objective.
- Playing together with their peers and Moonlight School students/teachers allows students to learn important social skills like empathy, cooperation and friendship, which could help them to succeed later in life.
