Trip to Chitwan National Park and Pokhara City
Chitwan National Park stands today as a successful testimony of nature conservation in South Asia. This is the first national park of Nepal, established in 1973, and preserves a unique ecosystem valuable to the whole world. The park covers a pristine area of 932 square km, and is situated in the subtropical inner Terai lowlands of the southern central part of Nepal. The park gained much wider recognition in the world when UNESCO included this area on the list of World Heritage Sites in 1984.
Formerly, the Chitwan valley was well known for big game and was exclusively managed as a hunting reserve for the Rana Prime Ministers and their guests until 1950. In 1963, the area south of Rapti was demarcated as a rhinoceros sanctuary. In 1970, His late Majesty King Mahendra had approved in principle the creation of Chitwan National Park.
Chitwan National Park offers an opportunity of a life time to see Royal Bengal tigers, one-horned rhinos, various species of birds and butterflies. Many choices of resorts and lodges are located in this region. Most include elephant safaris, jungle walks, canoeing and cultural activities. Pokhara will overwhelm you with one of the greatest photo spots in the world. While we walk along the shoreline of Fewa Lake we will be surrounded by a panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks of the Annapurna Massif. The beautiful colors created by the wooden boats and paragliders that are sailing, flying and rowing over the lake will probably be one of the highlights of your travel experience in Nepal.
The panoramic landscapes and varied cultures of different ethnic groups along the route make it a very popular choice for international school trips. Moonlight Nepal Company has comprehensive experience in guiding students, with a 100% safety record. This is a wonderful trek for international school students of all ages. Our guide and porters are friendly and experienced in the region and will facilitate your learning about our culture, people and mountains.
