Trip to Chitawan National Park – UNESCO World Heritage Centre
Chitwan National Park stands today as a successful testimony of nature conservation in South Asia. This is the first national park of Nepal, established in 1973, and preserves a unique ecosystem valuable to the whole world. The park covers a pristine area of 932 square km, and is situated in the subtropical inner Terai lowlands of the southern central part of Nepal. The park gained much wider recognition in the world when UNESCO included this area on the list of World Heritage Sites in 1984.
Formerly, the Chitwan valley was well known for big game and was exclusively managed as a hunting reserve for the Rana Prime Ministers and their guests until 1950. In 1963, the area south of Rapti was demarcated as a rhinoceros sanctuary. In 1970, His late Majesty King Mahendra had approved in principle the creation of Chitwan National Park.
Chitwan National Park offers an opportunity of a life time to see Royal Bengal tigers, one-horned rhinos, various species of birds and butterflies. Many choices of resorts and lodges are located in this region. Most include elephant safaris, jungle walks, canoeing and cultural activities. Pokhara will overwhelm you with one of the greatest photo spots in the world. While we walk along the shoreline of Fewa Lake we will be surrounded by a panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks of the Annapurna Massif. The beautiful colors created by the wooden boats and paragliders that are sailing, flying and rowing over the lake will probably be one of the highlights of your travel experience in Nepal.
Additionally, we take pride in our school trip programs, which feature a service learning project at our charity, Moonlight School. These programs offer young international students transformative, life-changing, and comprehensive experiential learning opportunities.
The safety and comfort of our student groups are our top priorities, and we take extensive precautions to minimize potential risks. We’re proud to share that we have maintained a 100% health and safety record since we began organizing international school trips in Nepal in 2011. We will do everything to ensure that your students’ visit to Nepal becomes one of the greatest memories of their lives.
