The Ghorepani-Pun hill trek in the Annapurna region offers some of the most dramatic close-up views of the highest and most beautiful mountains in the world. The journey from Ghorepani to Poon hill, also known as the Annapurna Balcony trek, is one of the most popular trekking trails. It is appropriate for all ages and adventure seekers. This area offers spectacular mountain scenery, thick rhododendron forests full of birds, deep sub-tropical valleys, as well as visits to charming villages inhabited by the Gurung and Magar communities. The trek is set below the Annapurna range, with a scenic backdrop of Machhapuchhare (Fishtail) Peak.

The Ghorepani-Poon route is an ideal trek for taking advantage of the panoramic views of the Himalaya.Along the way, you will see Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m), Mt. Nilgiri (7040m), Annapurna south (7219m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Hunchuli (6441m), fishtail/Machhapuchhare (6998m), LamjungHimal (6986m), Tukuche peak (6920m), Dhampus peak (6012m), among others. You will also experience the rich blend of diverse culturesfrom the ethnic groups that comprise the region,such as the Bramin, Chhetri, Magar, Thakali and Gurung peoples.

Day 01
Arrival in Kathmandu ( 1300m)
Upon arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be welcomed at the airport by our representative and transferred to your hotel by private car. After you settle into the hotel, you will have a welcome drink, followed by a briefing with your tour leader. He will discuss the trip details and co-ordinate any last minute arrangements. Enjoy your overnight stay at a deluxe hotel in Kathmandu
Day 02
Fly Pokhara and trek to TikheDhunga (1540m)
Enjoy a breakfast and drive to Airport and flight to Pokhara in the morning. You will be taken to Lakeside first to take in the panoramic views. Drive to Nayapul (48 km), 1.5 hours by vehicle over the hilly ridges of Lumle/Kande. The trail starts at the bottom of a river valley and passes through a lovely birch forest. Trek alongside the river and rice terraces up to Thikedhunga (about 3/4 hours). Relax during your overnight stay at Tea House in Thikedhunga.
Day 03
Tikhe Dhunga - Ghorepani. (2860m)
Breakfast is served in the morning around 7am. From Tikhedhunga, the trail crosses a stream (BhurungdiKhola) on a suspension bridge. Begin the long, steep climb to the large Magar village Uleri, perched at 2070m. Above the village, the trail climbs gently through pastures and cultivated fields, with magnificent rhododendrons and oak forests. Recharge over lunch in Nangethanti(‘thanti’ is a Nepalese word meaning ‘rest house’. In the winter, the trail may be covered with snow. From Nangethanti, trek about an hour to Ghorepani at 2848m. (Walking about 6/7 hours). Stay overnight at Tea House in Ghorepani.
Day 04
Ghorepani - Pun Hill (3210m) to back to Thikedhunga (1540m)
You will visit Poon Hill to experience the glorious sunrise at one of the world’s most scenic mountains ranges, with glimpses of mountains above 8000 meters. You will wake up at about 5am prepare to trek. It takes about 50 minutes to reach the small, flat top. You will see the sun gradually rise on the mountains— a breathtaking experience. You will see several mountain peaks, including Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Tukuche, Nilgiri, Hiunchuli, Dhaulagiri, Fish tail and Lamjung. After having breakfast at Ghorepani, you will hike down to Hile through deep pine and rhododendron forests. (Walking about 5/6 hours). Spend the night at Tea House in Hile
Day 05
Trek back to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara ( 827 m)
After breakfast, hike to Nayapul through small waterfalls. The trail will continue through beautiful villages and along riverbanks to Nayapul. From Nayapul,take an hour drive to Pokhara. Explore the surroundings and simply relax at the heart of Lakeside, the main city of Pokhara. Enjoy your overnight stay at a deluxe hotel in Pokhara
Day 06
fly back to Kathmandu ( 1300m)
Take in the panoramic views of the Himalaya from your hotel windows and balcony,including Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m), Mt. Nilgiri (7040m), Annapurna south (7219m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Hunchuli (6441m), fishtail/Machhapuchhare (6998m), Lamjung Himal (6986m), Tukuche peak (6920m) and Dhampus peak (6012m). Enjoy a breakfast and explore the lakeside. Around 11:30, you will fly back to Kathmandu—a thrilling flight over forests, fields and villages, with the Himalaya in the background. Spend much of the afternoon relaxing and enjoyingin Kathmandu. Stay overnight at your deluxe Kathmandu hotel.
Day 07
Service Project at Moonlight School ( 1300 meters )
Following breakfast, at approximately 9:30 am, we will will walk to Moonlight School. This visit presents a valuable opportunity for students to participate in meaningful service projects, which encompass teaching lessons, organizing classroom games, and engaging in enriching cultural interactions with the students at Moonlight School. As a highlight of the day, a special lunch will be shared with the Moonlight children and teachers, fostering a sense of connection and camaraderie.
Having had a fulfilling day at Moonlight School, we will then return to our deluxe hotel in Kathmandu, where we can enjoy a comfortable and restful overnight stay.
Day 08
Fly back to your onward destination
The Moonlight Nepal Trekking and Adventure team will take you to the airport for your flight home. Alternatively, if your flight is scheduled for the evening, you have the option to either spend more time with the Moonlight School or explore the city through sightseeing and shopping during the day. We will arrange for your airport drop-off three hours before your departure time.
